Safaricom profit jumps 36% to Shb 58.2bn as over half of M-PESA transactions stay free

Ethiopia’s losses narrow sharply as customer base hits 15.4 million, while Kenya unit’s half-year operating profit crosses Sh100bn for the first time Safaricom has reported a 36 per cent rise in half-year net income to Sh58.2 billion. It also said that more than half of all M-PESA transactions were free of charge during the period.
